  • Sad but true

Today i was reminded that in the REAL world. nice people finish last.  It doesn't matter how much you try to work with people, how much you accept responsibility, how much you even go above and beyond and even out of your way to work with people; if your "too" nice.  you're going to get run over.  I think it is sad, but also very true.  In fact, the place where I least expect it, I see it the MOST.  That is all I choose to say.

  • First texts

On the dates below, and even time marked. I saved these particular texts.  At first I saved them because i thought it was just cute and neat.  as i still have them and now it's Feb 19th.  i realize i wanted to save them somehow someway.  what better way than to xanga them.    the following texts are from my 3 year old daughter to me.  she got ahold of my wife's phone and actually sent these to me!!!  ahhh.. kids.. they grow up sooo fast.  lol!  the crazy thing about all this is.. my wife locks her phone and its a touch screen.  i later found out my daughter did this alll by herself!!!!  crazy huh?  this is just what  she sent to me.  i am sure she texted more people because she called about four other people to before she was caught with the phone.

On October 3, 1863, Abraham Lincoln stated: "The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies.  To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added... They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God...  It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American People.  I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States...  to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens."

Although Lincoln made Thanksgiving an official holiday, the practice of setting aside a day of thanks was a longstanding tradition in the United States. Moreover, Lincoln's writings, as well as those of other American leaders long before him, frequently reflect a deep sense of gratitude to God, both for His providence in national matters and in their own lives and families.  It's evident that thanksgiving extended beyond a national holiday and lives that were characterized by gratitude to God.

Bible scholar David Pao writes, "Thanksgiving becomes an essential part of the day to day living of believers. To live a life worthy of the Lord is to live with the constant awareness of God's grace."

As you give thanks today for family, friends, and a special meal,  I pray that you will grow in gratitude throughout the the upcoming year.  Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

  • a day when the nation would come together for remembrance

On March 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln wrote the following words: "We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven.  We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and properity.  We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown.  But we have forgotten God.  We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceifulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own, Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!"

this preceded the proclamation for a day of Thanksgiving, which came a few months later.  I will save that for Thanksgiving Day.

About Me

  • I am a social butterfly... when I first was told that I did not agree with it at all, but as time went on, I have learned that this is the BEST way to describe me! :-) I enjoy meeting new people!
